New Course! - 'Use Case for Business Requirements'.

This course emphasises self-esteem and its relationship to assertiveness.  Assertiveness describes a state of being which includes a sense of self worth, a belief in one’s own rights and the rights of others, and the ability to communicate effectively.  

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS COURSE?

Anyone who would like to increase their assertive response and regain control over aspects of their interpersonal relationships.  

COURSE AIMS

To provide participants with the assertive skills necessary for them to conduct their interpersonal relationships, both at work and socially, in an effective and satisfying way by increasing their skills in the areas of positive self-talk and using assertive messages.  

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1.  Differentiate between styles of communication.
2.  Practice various assertive techniques.
3.  Demonstrate an understanding of what part self esteem plays in
     assertive communication.
4.  Recognise when assertive behaviour is appropriate.
5.  Identify negative self-talk.
6.  Formulate positive self-talk.
7.  List their assertive rights.

WHAT LEARNING METHODS ARE USED TO ACHIEVE THE OUTCOMES?

ll exercises and learning techniques used during this workshop have been chosen with the adult learner in mind.  Exercises are problem centred and discussion and syndicate work is used as a vehicle for participants to reflect on their own experiences.
Specific methods used include:

•    Self assessment.
•    Case studies.
•    Problem solving scenarios in syndicates, and individually.
•    Syndicate and plenary discussion.
•    Role plays.

•    Video presentation.
